Silken, your presentation on May 9 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto, attended by 650 business people, supporting the charity Sleeping Children Around the World, founded by Murray Dryden in 1970, became a delightful topic of conversation around the table at our Mother's Day Brunch. These comments were impromptu and sincere, expressed by the Dryden family and the Breakfast Organizing Committee: “Smart and from the heart”; “Natural and unassuming”; “Sincere, could make fun of herself”; “She’s an athlete but her message was universal”; “Silken connected with the audience, for the 650 attendees it felt like sitting around the dining-room table”; Silken is “real” and she is also the consummate “pro” in her attention to timing requirements, her punctuality, friendliness and sincerity. She actively encouraged the audience to engage her in conversation, take pictures and get autographs. Silken does her homework. Her message was perfectly aligned with the values of Sleeping Children and the theme of the Breakfast. The short video clip of her Olympic career was perfect…..it reminded us of her athletic challenges and tied in beautifully with her message.
