SAINT JOHN - Canadian Olympic rower and youth recreation advocate Silken Laumann drew more than 250 people to the annual PRO Kids $100-a-plate, fundraising dinner at the Delta Brunswick hotel Thursday night.

"I've been passionate about physical activity in kids, and creating opportunities for kids to be active, and to play, for about five years now," Laumann said before the dinner.

She is now a spokeswoman for Goodlife Kids Foundation, which inspires young people to get active, eat healthy foods and have fun. It is the charitable arm of Goodlife Fitness, the largest chain of fitness clubs in North America.
