GoodLife’s Spin 4 Kids!

My butt is killing me.  Spin 4 Kids was held throughout Canada this Saturday March 3rd, and I cycled, alongside GoodLife’s fearless leader Patch, and Olympic cyclist Seamus McGrath, for 2 hours!  I can almost hear you die-hard spinners and cyclists mocking my complaints, but my bottom end has not been conditioned for this kind of abuse.

All for a great cause though, as the Victoria Bay Centre and Terrace clubs came together to raise over $5000 to get kids active. For our first year we were pleased as punch, with clubs in Newfoundland inspiring all of us to do more for kids.  They conceived the event, which is in its fourth year in Newfoundland.  Their total isn’t out yet, but given that last year they raised over $23,000, we’re excited to hear this years’ results.

Can you see the potential for Spin 4 Kids?  If every single club raises money we could have a huge impact on funding after active school programs, running clubs for kids, basketball programs for at risk youth.  In our clubs across the country we had many non members who participated alongside family and friends, being introduced to a great club atmosphere and had plenty of fun.  Our Spin 4 Kids had a fun, family feel to it, aided by the fact that several young people showed up to spin alongside their parents.  I can say without exception this was also the best team building event either club has ever had.  Trainers, instructors, and managers worked together with clients, and members to make the day a success.

From reports across the country the first national, annual Spin 4 Kids was fun, successful and a valuable team building event for each club that succeeded.  Thank you Newfoundland for challenging us all to participate in this great event.  Next year will be huge.
